Solo Exhibition by Chun Kyungwoo "Ordinary Unknow"

    Chun Kyubgwoo solo exhibition be held in Sunkok Art Museum,consisiting of installactions,video,photographs and archive .Ordinary Unknown gathers the performance projects that the artist has under taken over the last 15 years at numerous locations around the world. Chun's highly interactive performance work engages directly with public space and site-specificity.The artist's works are oftentmes  activited by the viewer participing in ordinary activities such as white text.Through  such interaction with the audience, Chun explores different aspects of human relationship and communication.

   I prefer to "Most Beautiful".It is a project with street cleaners near Paris,that contains the process of shaping memories.The participants come back from work early in the morning and draw a person's face they most want to see in the  world with a pencil at the performance.The 49 participants also draw a person's face with their eye closed. And then the hand wearing protective gloves that show signs of their working hours is set up as a combinative of coincidents with the face they drew.The project was made with the support of the museum and cooperation during the residency of the French Macval Museum of Contemporary Art.I think he created this art work by photograph's way.Art works will be made by  various of forms.I like creating works by photography,and i think i was inspired that do some works that combine photographs with painting, like this .Although this art work doesn't have deeply meaning but using this simple form show that ordinary people's memeries.

    There is another art work is similar with Most Beautiful.This art work named "Face to Face".This art work is a performance for photographs of  six young Korean movie stars in thier 20s,and contain the act of the actors who play virtual characters drawing their own faces.Actors slowly draw their faces on paper with their eyes closed after thinking  about waht their faces look like now,not just others .A face photographed for 10 minutes and a drawing(self-portrait)painted imaginary during that time are included in picture.Maybe this work always show somthing about memories,the image of youself.maybe most people's don't really know theirself,or face to theirself by other ways.
